What is the difference between anti-wrinkle and filler?

Injections with anti-wrinkle are used to temporarily relax muscles that are pulling the skin in a way that causes wrinkles. Generally, but are not limited to, these injections are in the upper third of the face, including the forehead, frown and crows feet.

Dermal fillers can also be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, however their primary purpose is to restore volume where it has been lost in the face due to ageing effects such as movement of underlying tissues and bone resorption. Generally, but not exclusively, fillers are used in the lower two thirds of the face in areas such as the cheeks, chin, lips and nasolabial folds.

Can I have treatment right before a major event such as a wedding or birthday party?

I advise that you avoid treatment for at least 2 weeks before any major event. While anti-wrinkle downtime is very minimal and low chance of bruising and swelling, the results will not show for 4-7 days, so if you’re wanting a result for that event, best to book in 2 weeks before to avoid disappointment!

Dermal fillers are a higher chance of bruising and swelling. In areas such as the lips, swelling and bruising may last from 7-10 days.

What age should I start having treatment?

The answer is different for each individual. Only you know and can decide what is right for you.

Some patients believe that prevention is better than cure. This involves periodic treatment of lines before they become deep wrinkles and require higher dosing and much more regular treatments. As for dermal fillers, most patients start reverting volume loss in their mid face from as early as their mid 20’s.
